Vacancy: Retail Assistant

Reporting to: Company Directors

Based in: Lightbox Store - Scarborough

Working pattern: 12 hours per week, Wednesday & Thursday 10am-4pm

The Role

We are looking for a retail assistant to work 2 days a week at our Scarborough-based store. You need to be a personable and energetic person who thrives in a busy retail environment. 

We’ll need you to be a proactive member of our tight-knit team, handling various administrative tasks to support other key staff, engaging with customers both in-store and online via email, and our customer service phone line to provide unmatched customer service.

We're seeking an individual with a can-do attitude and a strong willingness to learn. The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for meeting new people and understanding their needs, excellent communication skills, and a strong attention to detail.

While we value retail experience, we welcome individuals to apply who are new to the industry as full training will be given.

 

Remuneration: £12.50 ph 

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Initially, we are looking for a retail assistant who will:

- Be a warm and welcoming first point of contact for our in-store customers & clients. 

- Receive, unpack, and organise all store deliveries and customer orders.

- Uphold store cleanliness and organisation.

- Guide customers through our store, providing insights on our diverse collection of feature lighting (on-the-job training provided).

- Address customer inquiries in-store, via email, and our busy customer service phone line whilst learning about our product range and helping the customer decision-making process.

- Assist in merchandising the store (under our lighting designer’s guidance)

- Handle in-store payments, gaining familiarity with our transaction systems

- Liaise with our suppliers to place orders and chase incoming stock.

- Utilise our software to record updates to orders and customer requests.

 

Skills

You will:

- Be confident with IT and numeracy.

- Demonstrate a passion for homes, interiors, and design.

- Display the ability to grasp new information and adapt accordingly quickly

- Be able to multitask and enjoy working in a busy retail environment

- Be familiar with project management software (preferred but not essential)

We are looking for a retail assistant to work Wednesday and Thursday, 10am to 4pm, with occasional holiday and sick leave cover.
