Our Lighting Designer’s Tip - Getting the Height Right

Living spaces are often let down by a single, poorly chosen ceiling light that flattens the whole room.

In a room with a ceiling height of 2.4m or below, a fitting that sits close to the ceiling will always look more intentional and more elegant than a pendant that hangs too low and crowds the space.

Your ceiling clearance should be around 2.1m from the floor to the lowest part of the fitting - that's your minimum. Work within that and you have more choice than most people may realise.

Another tip - don't rely on a ceiling light alone. Any ceiling pendant works best as part of a layered scheme - a floor lamp in the corner, a table lamp beside the sofa, and wall lights to add depth. Keep everything at low wattage and warm white (around 2700k) and your space will feel styled and alive.

Size matters too. Go as large as the room will comfortably carry - it will create more impact and give you better light distribution across your space.

Delivery & Returns

UK deliveries are 6 days a week, Monday to Saturday between 8am and 8pm although this can vary depending on the courier used. Orders over £90 include free standard delivery, otherwise, it is £4.95.

It may be possible, in some cases, to place in-stock items on an overnight courier service. This is extra - please get in touch by emailing us [email protected]

It is also possible to pick up in-store. Again, please let us know and we can make arrangements when your order will be ready for collection.
