The Enduring Magic of Tiffany Lighting: Ceiling, Wall and Table Lamps

There are very few interior lighting collections that can genuinely be described as art — but Tiffany is one of them. Developed by Louis Comfort Tiffany in New York at the turn of the twentieth century, Tiffany glass lighting was unique at that time for combining the rich colours and intricate craftsmanship of the Arts and Crafts movement with the sinuous, nature-inspired forms of Art Nouveau.

Over a century later, Tiffany Lighting endures not as a nostalgic curiosity, but as one of the most sought-after and characterful lighting choices available for the home.

What makes a Tiffany light so special is what happens is the stunning design and quality of the hand-crafted glass panels. Cut, soldered and layered with extraordinary care they come alive when lit, with warm, jewel-like colours. The illumination provided by a Tiffany doesn't simply light a room; it transforms it. Basking in the glow of Tiffany, walls glow, shadows soften, and the surrounding space takes on a quality that no other style of lighting can quite replicate.

Here at Lightbox, we have been curating our Tiffany collection with love and care. We are delighted to offer a truly exceptional range of Tiffany lighting, featuring statement floor lamps, stunning ceiling pendants and flush ceiling fittings as well as elegant wall lights, statement floor lamps and striking table lamps, all of which work beautifully in both traditional and modern settings. Here are our three favourite collections.

The Lightbox Edit — Our Favourite Tiffany Collections

For those who love the elegance of Art Deco but prefer something understated rather than exuberant, the Fargo Collection is exceptional. This is Tiffany at its most refined — beautifully composed white iridescent glass panels with a captivating shimmer that shifts and changes as you move around the fitting, framed by a delicate diamond-shaped border and paired with an elegant bronze-effect finish. The effect is sophisticated, luminous and striking.

The Fargo range featured prominently in the TV series Mr Selfridge, which tells you something about its sense of occasion. The full collection covers everything - an exquisite table lamp and a statement floor lamp complement pendants, wall lights and flush ceiling fittings — making the Fargo collection one of the most versatile Tiffany ranges for those who want to create a cohesive look throughout their home.

For something with more drama and depth of colour, the Astoria Collection is a wonderful choice. Where Fargo leans towards the crisp and luminous, Astoria is richer and more complex — its bevelled and textured glass hand-crafted by mixing iridescent purples, greens, blues and blacks whilst molten, so that each individual panel is completely unique. The dynamic Art Deco lines and deep blue detailing shift and change in the light, giving the collection a visual life that never settles.

The full Astoria range — which includes flush ceiling fittings, pendants, wall lights, floor and table lamps — works beautifully in bedrooms, living rooms and reading corners, working to elevate settings by adding warmth and atmosphere.

And for those who want to embrace the full, glorious tradition of Tiffany lighting, the Dragonfly Blue Collection is the iconic choice. The dragonfly is perhaps the most beloved of all Tiffany motifs — richly detailed, brilliantly coloured in vivid blues with multi-coloured glass beading, and teamed with satin black painted metalwork. This is a collection that makes no apologies for being decorative and bold. A true style statement, the Dragonfly Blue Collection is genuinely breath-taking and a real talking point within any room.

Designer's Tip — How to Style Tiffany Lighting in a Modern Home

Jack Inston, our in-house Lighting Designer with 13 years' experience in luxury residential lighting design, shares his thoughts on how to make the most of Tiffany lighting:

"One of the most common concerns I hear from clients about Tiffany lighting is that it will look dated or too traditional in a modern home. Absolutely not! If anything, a modern setting is an ideal backdrop, allowing the Tiffany to sit within the space as a piece of art and the anchoring point of the room.

We're seeing a huge rise in the use of panelling within modern interiors and new builds. Adding a Tiffany light to a panelled backdrop a Tiffany gives a nod towards a softer, classic aesthetic. Our Tiffany fittings are of such high quality that the addition of even just one Tiffany product will elevate every other feature of the room.

The key is to treat your Tiffany as you would a piece of art — let it be the focal point and keep the surrounding space relatively calm. A Fargo floor lamp or an Astoria table lamp will sing against a simple, neutral backdrop in a way that it wouldn't in an already busy room.

Think also about how Tiffany light behaves differently at different times of day. By natural light, the glass has one character; by evening lamplight, it has quite another. Position table lamps and floor lamps where the glow will fall onto a wall or ceiling and create warmth rather than just pointing downward — this maximises that beautiful, ambient quality that only Tiffany glass can produce.

And don't be afraid to mix. A Dragonfly Blue floor lamp beside a classic linen sofa, a Fargo wall light flanking a modern mirror in a hallway — Tiffany works with good design, full stop."
